Failing kidneys. That’s what the vet said on Monday, after a trip to the vet on Saturday for a check up and some blood work. Our sweet kitty, Sidney is sick. We’ve noticed quite a bit of weight loss over the last couple of months and now, he’s pretty bony and lethargic. And all the while, he’s still got some pep. And the always present whining meow that has, at times, made us think that we’d prefer Chinese water torture over one more second of needy mewing.
Think of us this week while we come to terms with what will likely become the inevitable.

i’m so sorry!! sending good thoughts your way!
Oh I’m SO sorry to hear about your cat! I had a cat that suffered kidney failure some years ago, it was actually a complication of diabetes. We tried to save him by giving him fluids by IV, but in the end it didn’t help; he was just too sick. We had to deal with the “inevitable” then, too. I know how hard that is. My shoulder is here if you need an extra one!
i’m sorry too. the same thing happened to my cat. i don’t know how severe your cat’s kidney failure is, but it seems pretty common and inevitable for older cats. i’ve been giving mine subcutaneous fluids, prescription cat food & supplements for the past two years to prolong his life.
Oh, poor baby! I’m so sorry the little one is sick. I know how hard this can be. And I recognize that needy “meow” you described from my own 20-year old cat, Roxie – she is the master of pulling it out at 3am. Cuddle your little one close (if he’s a cuddly one) and take advantage of every minute. I will be thinking of you guys.
Love to you and your household. Give Sidney some snuggles and pets from me, poor guy.
I will definitely be thinking about you and sweet Sidney. Hugs to you, Sky~
